Frequently Asked Questions

1. What forms of payment do you accept ?

Answer: Paypal or credit card via Paypal's secure site. Please wait for us to send you a Paypal invoice. Then follow the instructions in the email. You do not need to create an account with Paypal in order to use their services but it would be really useful.

2. Do you ship outside of Canada ?

Answer: No, not at this time.

3. How much is shipping ?

Answer: Please refer to the shipping chart below for plants only. We recommend Expedited parcel for a $10 flat fee since the plants will be fine after 3 days shipping unless you're in ON, QC, NB, NS, or NL in which case we recommend Xpresspost. If you would like to upgrade to faster shipping please contact us.

For fish or live cultures, we charge a different rate for each item depending on quantity since each item's weight is different and multiple items can be packaged in different ways to save on shipping. Please contact us for a shipping quote.

Typically items are shipped out on Monday. Shipping options through Canada Post are shown below:

For Plants only:

FREE expedited parcel shipping for plant orders over $60.00.  You will get a $10 credit towards an upgrade to faster shipping if it takes more than 2 business days to get to your destination (typically eastern Canada)

Note: Grey areas mean that shipping by this option is not available due to high risk with long transit times. Also, for rural areas, typically this will add 1 more day for shipping.

4. Do you have local pickup ?

Answer: Yes, typically on Sundays. Payment via Paypal is required prior to pickup. Please contact for details and to set up a meeting time.

5. Do I have to be home to receive the fish or plants ? will they be left at my door ?

Answer: No, Canada Post will attempt delivery and if you're not home, don't worry, they will leave a notice in your mailbox instructing you where the nearest post office is that you can pick up your package at. This is why we choose Canada Post, other courier services may just leave the package at your doorstep.

6. Do you allow visits to view the items ?

Answer: No, sorry, this is a web store only and not a retail store.

7. What is your live arrival policy ?

Answer: We guarantee plant live arrival with all three shipping methods (Priority Courier, Xpresspost, or Expedited parcel). Plants will do fine any way you choose with the exception of more sensitive plants such as hemianthus callitrichoides.

For fish or live food we guarantee live arrival with Priority Courier by Canada Post or Xpresspost if it takes 2 days or less to arrive depending on your location. All DOA's must be reported with pictures of the unopened bag within 48 hours of arrival. Buyer pays shipping costs for replacement items.

8. Do you ship live items during the winter ?

Answer: Only if the temperature in Edmonton or the destination is warmer than -10 degrees Celcius

9. Are you on Aquabid ?

Answer: Yes we are, check out our items for sale
